12/13/2023 0 Comments Im tyrone girlUnderlying this shtick is a blatantly misogynistic tone that treats the wife as a transactional object rather than a person, but sadly that’s another topic. The Vine pictured above has the same six second cadence as the rest: Tyrone enters the frame, pointing at the camera and firmly announces, “I’m Tyrone!” Then turning his body and extended finger towards the (usually) male bystander, he looks them in the eye and says “And I’m gonna to f**ck your wife long d**k style.” The usual response to this challenge of masculinity is to: (1) cower, or (2) fight. Tyrone, although intended to be humorous, works to confirm that urban black men are sexually aggressive, confrontational, and belligerent. The caricature is a tool to delegitimize black men as mindlessly aggressive “beasts,” while legitimizing the violence towards them. Historically, the brute stereotype has been rehashed at times when black people are pushing for social equality. The “humor” in the reaction plays upon a myriad of racial implications about black men, largely stemming from the stereotype of the black brute or rapist. Intended to be prank or reaction videos, the humor arises from how bystanders react to the muscular, durag and tank top clad Tyrone, who is telling them he is going to “f**k their wife, long d**k style.” Screen Shot of “I’m Tyrone Vine Compilation” (0:07) posted on Youtube by Hilarious Vines In the summer of 2015, Naphil Hitson achieved social media sensationalism for a series of vines featuring his character Tyrone.
